What's unique about the Neuro-Energetics' Trainer's Training (TT)?

Because of our personal and professional experience during the course of 18 years involvement with NLP Trainer's Training, we wanted to implement changes that we felt would make a program such as this even stronger. Since we haven't experienced other people's Trainer's Trainings recently, we can only comment on what we do.

Some of the changes which we implemented are:

1. We offer personal coaches for all Trainers (we refer to the participants as "Trainers" as of the first day). Each participant has scheduled time with their coach (who is a certified Trainer) to plan and present their presentation before they do it in class. Coaches are not required. However, we want people to take TT who are really ready for the experience, we like people to integrate the NLP knowledge before TT rather than during it. The reason is that, during TT, each exercise builds on the one before it and is primarily oriented to presentation or process skills, so knowledge of the content is presupposed. If a trainer appears "light" on content then, we may recommend that they work with a coach, if they want to be certified.

2. We provide participants with a content sheet to study for the TT Certification test. There are approximately 34 content areas listed and to be certified, participants need to be familiar with those and score at least 70% on the test.

3. We limit the size of our trainings so that participants have personal time with us and we aren't in the position of certifying trainers who we haven't had a chance to get to know.

4. The main part of our Training is called Core Skills. We thought that one missing piece of our TT experience was meeting certified trainers who were already successful in NLP and finding out how they did it. Because of this we recruited trainers who make presentations about their areas of expertise during the Specialties Sessions of the training. This occurs nightly from 8.15 -10.15pm (after the dinner break) and is optional, so participants only attend the segments which interest them. These trainers are then available to meet with participants for lunch or breakfast, if participants have more in-depth questions. Many of these trainers are invited back yearly, however, as their schedules change, new trainers are added to the Specialties Sessions. They are from the pool of trainers who were already certified by Neuro-Energetics . This gives a number of trainers a forum to present their material, rather than just assisting at the training.

5.We do a segment on products and audio systems to get participants started in their NLP business. We believe that to create a niche in NLP, our trainers need to be seen as experts. One way of being recognized as an expert is to have products a book, a series of tapes or articles, etc. We now sell 3 products made by our Trainers because we believe in this process (Magical Selling, NLP & Education and Time Flies).

6. The Neuro-Energetics' Master Trainer Program is primarily centered around making a unique contribution to the field of NLP. So far, the majority of the Master Trainers we have certified have written books (plus filled other basic requirements). We really believe in others; we believe in an unlimited NLP "pie" and we want others to be successful.

7. We offer membership eligibility in 4 associations: ABNLP (The American Board of NLP); ANLP (the British NLP Association); CANLP (the Canadian Association of NLP); and The International Network for Humanistic NLP, which is our association. Trainers who are certified by Neuro-Energetics automatically become members of INHNLP, whose mission is "Collaboration Creating Opportunity" (or worded differently, collaboration not competition). This reflects the basic presupposition of Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology™ that "No matter what you think you are, you are allways more than that."

8. Our purpose as trainers is to serve; so we do our best (and we're not perfect) to make sure that things run smoothly and participants get what they want. One of our main goals is to insure the trainers comfort during the training (because nervousness has been reported in the past!). We begin by saying we presuppose everyone's certification, so if you do what's asked and act "as if" you'll be fine! (...And that's not a suggestion for participants...NOW!)

9. Accelerated learning principles are a vital part of the Neuro-Energetics' Trainer's Training environment. We use unique, unconventional parallel learning experiences to stimulate creativity and synergy. They are opportunities to model excellence so that the participants learn how to think like an NLP Trainer, not just teach what others have taught them.
